2014 – 2015 Youth Leadership Essay Contest Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the 2014-2015 Youth Leadership Essay Contest! These young people have submitted essays related to the accomplishments of Congressman John Lewis (see Essay Contest Topic), and the 1st and 2nd place winners earned scholarships. All winners have earned an all-expense paid trip to the RTIEL Youth Civil Rights Leadership Tour, which will consist of visits to historic sites in the cities of Montgomery and Selma, Alabama and various youth summit activities hosted by the National Voting Rights Museum and Institute. The tour will culminate with attendance at the 50th Annual “Bloody Sunday” Re-enactment crossing the Edmund Pettus Bridge (see http://www.nps.gov/nr/travel/civilrights/al4.htm). The tentative dates for the tour are March 5 – March 9, 2015.
